Evermore- The Final Discussion

I thought it would be best if we finished off the month with new discussion questions, since your perspective can change once finishing a book. This thread of comments may contain spoilers. If you haven't finished Evermore, please do not click the comments section, assuming you don't want parts of the story revealed to you.

Below are a few questions I thought would be interesting to throw out to the group, based on the discussions going on in the previous discussion thread. Please feel free to add any questions in the comments you would also like to discuss. Also, keep in mind, just reply to a question or someone's answer if you'd like to respond. Keeping the discussion clean and organized is the key to a fun talk!

If you are new to the group, before commenting please review the FAQ and rules.

Don't forget, the poll for April's selection ends March 25. If you have yet to vote, please do so. It's a tight race!

Final Questions (based on completing the book):

1. After finishing the book, do you think the lesson or meaning of Evermore changed from start to finish? How?
2. In the first discussion thread, a few of you mentioned being suspicious of Damen. Did your feelings for him change by the end of the book? How did that affect your like/dislike of Evermore?
3. A few of you also mentioned your frustration with Ever. Did your view(s) change? For the better or worse? Again, how did that affect your like/dislike of Evermore?
   
4. What will you take away with you from reading Evermore?
   
5. Do you think the book is portrayed properly (cover, back cover copy (or jacket flap), etc.) in stores/media?

The Start of the Discussion- Evermore

Since some of you have started reading Evermore, I thought I would post a few discussion questions to think about while you're reading. These are just basic questions that we will be discussing for each book. We will get more specific with our discussion later in the month.

If you visit the comments, you'll notice that I've also posted each question there, as well as this post. If you want to join in on the discussion for any of the questions, please just hit the "post reply" option next to the question. That way, we can keep each discussion a separate thread and reply to individuals. Remember, please no spoilers in this discussion. We can talk about the end of the book in the last discussion post of the month.

Also, if you haven't already, please read the FAQ and Rules. They will always be posted in the sidebar if you need to find them at any time.

1. How does the setting figure into the book? Is the setting a character? Does it come to life? Did you feel you were experiencing the time and place in which the book was set?
2. What motivated the story? Was the novel plot-driven or character-driven?
   
3. What are some of the book's themes? How important were they?
4. How are the book's images symbolically significant? Do the images help to develop the plot, or help to define characters?
5. What was your first impression of the characters?

If you haven't picked up your copy of Evermore yet, don't worry. There is still plenty of time. We will be reading and discussing the book throughout the month!

Welcome! FAQ and rules to live by on YAedge Book Club.

Welcome to the YAedge Book Club! Before we get started, I thought I would first set a few ground rules. Everyone is welcome to participate, but please keep the rules in mind at all times.
To participate, get your hands on a copy of that month's book at your local library, online, or better yet, your local independent bookseller.

The rules are posted (and will always be posted) on the right sidebar.

1. The goal of this book club is to read, enjoy and have fun discussing Young Adult books. Obviously, fun is key. Feel free to invite friends to join along. The more the merrier!

2. You may find that you disagree with something another member of the group has said. It's okay to disagree! Debating a point about the book is fine, but please be kind to everyone here.

3. Flaming and/or inappropriate behavior and/or language will not be tolerated.

4. As Administrator, I have the right to delete inappropriate comments. Please keep all comments constructive to the book/topic.

5. Keep on topic, but feel free to introduce information that is relevant to the discussion (historical facts, bio details, book background, cover, characters, related authors or topics).

6. Please no spoilers in the open discussion! Toward the end of the month, when everyone should be finished with the book, I can start another discussion post that can be tagged with a spoilers alert.

If we all stick to the six rules listed above, everyone will have a good time!

Now on to the fun part, how the book club will work.

At the 1st of each month, we will start a new book. If you look at the right sidebar, you will see a poll to vote for the next month's book club read. Please feel free to vote for the book you are most interested in reading next. Once we have all voted, the book with the most votes wins. As you can see, the book currently being read is also displayed in the sidebar.

The authors; blogs will be an ongoing list in the sidebar to keep track of the books/authors we've read in the past.

During the month, as we read the book, feel free to come to the blog and start a discussion in the comments section. I'll keep a post open for discussion and have a link to it on the sidebar. The comments for this blog are through IntenseDebate, allowing other people to reply. That way, we can keep topics together in one thread. You do not need to sign up for IntenseDebate to comment.

I will also try to contact the authors for an interview. Depending on the author, I will try to open it up for questions. When the time comes, I will post for questions so that everyone can participate.
